The Will of William Davis C 1680 - 1747

In the name of God Amen I William Davis of Radley in the County of Berks Gentleman being at this present of sound mind memory and understanding God be praised for the same I do make this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following that is to say first and principally I surrender my soul into the hands and mercy of Almighty God and my body to the earth to be decently interred according to the directions of my Executors hereinafter named and as for that temporal estate and those goods wherein God of his infinite wisdom has blessed me I do give and dispose thereof in manner and form following that is to say first I give and bequeath unto my son William Davis Twenty shillings Also I give and bequeath unto my son Thomas Davis the like sum of Twenty shillings Also I give unto my daughter Mary the wife of William E ----- the like sum of Twenty shillings Also I give and bequeath unto my son Richard Davis the like sum of Twenty shillings And all the rest residue and remainder of my Goods Chattels ---- and ---- of money --­credits and estate whatsoever and whereso ever ( after my just debts Legacies and funeral expenses first ----- paid and satisfied) I give and bequeath unto my son John Davis and I do hereby make nominate constitute and appoint my said son John Davis full and sole executor of this my last Will and testament and I do hereby make void all former and other Wills by me at any time ---- made ---- ---­this to be my last Will and Testament in witness whereof I have set my hand and seal this fourteenth day April in the twentieth year of the reign of our sovereign lord George the --- by the grace of God of Great Britain France and Ireland King Defender of the Faith and so forth and in

the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and fortv seven.

as Witnesses hereto in his sight and at his request duly swom before me
